In this role your be making friends with your colleagues by empowering and supporting them in their digital transformation journey; you will enable them to recognise where technology can revolutionize their business area, practices and processes. You'll be responsible for suggesting and putting in place standards, governance and compliance and ensuring both business and IT are coming together to have those all meaningful conversations.
You will be using rapid agile approaches to design, develop and launch applications and prototypes to deliver specific business benefits or provide better understanding of the final requirements or solution design.

You'll be working with DevOps and Architecture to make sure the team you lead delivers the right tactical solutions in line with our strategic direction ensuring a faster, more iterative delivery to realise business value.

You're be handling new requests, prioritising them with Business Partners and resource management, as well as setting both technical and process standards and carrying out quality assurance against these.

Day to day

  • In conjunction with the IT Lite team your manage, review, challenge and update existing processes.
  • Organise workshops, training days, show & tell sessions to engage and upskill citizen developers, technology business partners and technology ops managers and showcase the tools available to us.
  • Develop processes and training programmes to ensure the team and citizen developers across the company make use of best industry practices.
  • Lead an effective multi-functional team to deliver their objectives whilst making the best use of other IT resources and avoiding duplication of effort across the IT function
  • Design and build solutions based on approved technologies so that all essential requirements are met within the agreed timescale
  • Launch solutions with appropriate training and materials so that users can maximise the value of the solution
  • Produce lightweight documentation describing the solution (including such information as purpose, business owner(s), the technologies involved, functionality, logic and dependencies on other systems
  • Provide status updates on delivery progress to the Head of Platform Engineering/DevOps, business stakeholders and relevant IT Business Partner for each solution
  • Produce short pieces of content (eg. articles, videos or case studies) for both innovation initiatives and mainstream solutions explaining what has been delivered and the benefits for the business
  • Own and maintain the day-to-day request and resource management process and allocation of work for the team

About you

You’ll have come from a full life cycle development background, coupled with an Agile and DevOps ethos.
project management, business analysis and agile development knowledge and skills; including experience of using tools to manage these disciplines

Ideally having a proven understanding of Office 365, Dynamics 365, Azure including the Power Platform (PowerApps, Flow, Power BI) and their practical application within a small-scale rapid-development team and demonstrate strong general knowledge of technology will be advantageous.

An awareness of the principles of technical architecture, information security, operations and support is essential and you'll be adept at transforming information and presenting it in a digestible format dependent upon the audience and their level of technical knowledge. You'll be up-to-date with new technology and business developments/innovations in a broad landscape & make the link between an innovative technology and the business value to Virgin Atlantic.

With Line Management experience, you'll be passionate about the development of others and will have experience of motivating and driving your people to success. Confident in your approach, you’ll have excellent presentation skills and comfortable liaising at all levels of the organisation, working collaboratively across the organisation building strong working relationships.
