In a nutshell

This is a fantastic opportunity to join Virgin Atlantic’s Crew Logistics Department as Manager – Crewing and Pre-Ops. You will have overall management of the Pre-Ops and Crewing teams, ensuring departments are resourced, trained, and motivated to deliver an exceptional service to the operation.  Ensuring the published rosters are managed in accordance with prevailing regulatory and Company regulations whilst permitting the operation of the scheduled flying programme.

You will oversee the operation and ensure that all flights are operated with the correct number of Flight Crew and Cabin Crew as required by the Company. You'll work In conjunction with the Head of Crew Logistics, with the development and implementation of Company and departmental strategy that supports the operational delivery of safe, efficient and productive rosters for Flight Crew and Cabin Crew. 


Day to day

Effective development and management of the Crewing and Pre-Ops departments systems, processes and procedures

Ensure Pilot and Cabin crew training is executed efficiently and in accordance with regulations and requirements
Maintain Rosters efficiently, as a result of aircraft type, crew configuration, flight schedule adjustments, swaps or any other factor that results in roster re-planning
Challenging working practices across Crew Logistics in the interests of improvement, such as standby utilization
Delivering the timely notification of changes, delays and call-outs to pilots and cabin crew
Ensuring pilots and cabin crew operate according to the regulations and that the CMS system supports the team in compliance and change control
Providing consistent analysis, ensuring the department is resilient and risks to the operation are identified and resolved in a structured, coordinated and efficient manner
Dive all people initiative's including; recruitment, development, welfare and performance management of the Crewing and Pre-Ops team.
Ensuring availability of resource and skills to meet departmental requirements
Monitor all regulatory and departmental training ensuring its completed as required
Proactive development and delivery of both strategic and tactical plans that support business and operational requirements
Ability to drive forward business objectives and improvements linked to departmental outputs including system and process redesign whilst maintaining stakeholder engagement
Progressive in thinking, looking for new ways to deliver efficiency and accuracy providing improved outputs to the Company and to pilots and cabin crew
Manage relationships both internal and external and with key stakeholders including Flight Operations, Training, Cabin Services, Unions, Finance
Active participant in regular Union meetings relating to scheduling
Supporting and influencing Flight Ops and Cabin Services in engagement strategies and negotiations
Act as point of escalation for pilot, cabin crew and team queries and concerns seeking to resolve and clarify as required
Working collaboratively with all areas of Crew Logistics to ensure plans, assumptions and activities are achieving the desired goal and using feedback to further tune department outputs
Collate and feedback to Planning and Hotac opportunities to better organise pilot and cabin crew activities that support greater efficiency or roster resilience
Influential in FRM evaluation, learning and development across Crew Logistics
Managing rosters that minimise crew down, disruption and cost through improved oversight and actions based on feedback and evaluation. 

About you

As Manager - Crewing and Pre-Ops, you will be a strong and motivated leader who is educated to degree level or equivalent knowledge gained from experience. You will have previous management experience of Crewing Logistics / Pre-ops teams, ideally within a regulated environment.
