In a nutshell

As part of our Fuel Efficiency team you will play a key role in optimising fuel usage across our fleet through analysis and rigorous evaluation of operational data and procedures. Supporting business teams across the airline with high quality information, you will oversee a number of fuel efficiency initiatives providing data analysis, reporting and recommendations ensuring benefits are identified and delivered.

Developing new reporting and increasing data streams will be a central feature of this role, working with our system suppliers and internal stakeholders to improve the quantity of data, whilst maintaining quality, and performance measures for various business areas.


Day to day

Management Information

Analysing fuel and operational data to provide meaningful metrics and status reports. Continually review reporting templates to ensure that they are relevant and meaningful, seeking out new data sources to develop new metrics, reporting and ways of displaying information as business requirements change.

Carry out causal analysis on data and identify corrective actions or best practice. You’ll deliver a high level of analytical thinking to data collated and propose recommendations for improvements.

Utilise a range of techniques to cascade information to different audiences, supporting the team(s) to understand and interpret data and find actionable solutions.

Support the fuel efficiency team reporting schedule, including regulatory compliance reports.

 

System Expert/Super User

Using our fuel management system to analyse and quantify efficiency initiatives, identifying new opportunities and completing feasibility studies.

Continually learning, capturing best practice and keeping up to date with innovations in the industry to ensure that the system is utilised to its maximum potential.

You will work with our system supplier and internal stakeholders to develop the system.

Disseminating information and knowledge across VAA, providing training and guidance to individuals and teams.

 
Project Management

Support the creation of project briefs and provide analysis for fuel related business cases. Constructively challenge requirements to ensure they are deliverable, supportable, and linked to business benefits or needs.

Effectively manage fuel related projects, ensuring the business is kept informed of progress.

Set up and maintain effective trackers to oversee projects and ensure initiatives are delivered to time, cost and quality targets 


About you

We’re looking for a highly numerate self-starter with strong analytical skills, experience working with large datasets and a relentless attention to detail. Someone with knowledge of project management practices who is capable of working to time, cost and quality objectives.

To be successful in this role you will need to be a confident team player and be comfortable working with all areas of our business. An innovative approach, reasoning skills and a strong desire to develop effective solutions to drive operational efficiency are a must.

You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent experience) in, Maths, Engineering or Business and be fully proficient in the use of our business data tools including Business Objects, Access and Excel. Experience with SQL developer would be beneficial but not essential. An understanding of airline operations would be an advantage. If the above sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!
