What is the purpose of this role?

At Amey we are undergoing an exciting journey to transform and improve how we manage Health & Safety, Environment and Quality across our business. This transformation focuses on the three core elements; the HSEQ support to the business, the HSEQ skills and competence within the business and the HSEQ systems we use.

We are now looking to appoint a Transformation Manager (HSEQ) to support the Head of Social Impact on completing and embedding this transformation on an FTC basis to the end of December 2018.

This is a high profile position that will involve working closely with Senior Business leads to lead, implement and coordinate key work-streams within the wider programme.


  • Centrally co-ordinate the transition to the new HSEQ Management System – incl. document platform design and development (IT/Airsweb systems)
  • Support the delivery of key training events including HSEQ elements of the Manager and Supervisor Development Programmes
  • Manage and co-ordinate the development of a consistent set of HSEQ Masterclasses
  • Help coordinate HSEQ review/re-fresh of ‘priority’ topics i.e. VfL, Balance Safety Scorecards/KPIs, Zero Code, Safety Behaviours
  • Ensure effective communications to HSEQ and wider Amey on the progress of the HSEQ Transformation project
  • Support HSEQ Team/Family communications

What are we looking for?

  • An engaging communication and influencing style able to work with all levels of the business.
  • Is capable of helping to achieve successful culture change in a complex business with experience of project management and delivery.
  • Works with diligence and professionalism and in doing so can command support and respect from senior directors.
  • Has business acumen and previous experience of a diverse and complex operating business.
  • Has the appetite and ability to work collaboratively across the HSEQ team and wider business functions.
  • Produces consistently high quality communications (such as presentations, reports and emails).
  • Previous Project Manager experienceHas worked collaboratively with the Business Partners and Operational Safety teams facilitating culture change
  • Experience supporting / managing systems.
  • Has experience in implementing new working methods and initiatives.
