The work we do

We enable the infrastructure industry to make better decisions under increasingly uncertain conditions. We use data science techniques and technology solutions to help our clients deliver a better service to their customers.

Amey Strategic Consulting & Technology is the UK’s leading asset analytics and technology consultancy for infrastructure. In the past five years, we’ve grown a team of 100 people, achieving and maintaining a fast-paced start-up mentality within a large infrastructure operator. We keep diversity at the heart of our hiring practices, with active support for team members from the LGBT community, increasing women in our industry, and promoting ethnic diversity. We recognise the potential of individuals regardless of gender, sexuality and social background and challenge the current industry bias at every opportunity. Our small team culture is supported by regular team socials.

Our cross-discipline team gives us a unique perspective on capital investment, operational expenditure, how assets create business value and how organisations carry and manage risk. We use this knowledge analytically and develop open source and proprietary software to provide insightful evidence for decision makers. We do this at all levels within an organisation, from boardroom down to end users up, using technology to enable our understanding of complex, interconnected systems that make up a business, allowing us to create a line of sight between corporate strategy and asset operations. Our clients include Heathrow Airport, National Grid, United Utilities, Severn Trent Water, Network Rail, London Underground and New York MTA. This gives us the opportunity to take on and solve the toughest problems for vital strategic infrastructure organisations.

What are we looking for?

We will work with you to harness what you have learnt, the skills you’ve developed and help you to grow them; and we will fast-track your CV by providing you with significant responsibility and challenges from day one with the world’s top infrastructure clients.  Our small-team culture will ensure you learn from those around you and are involved in a variety of work at all levels.  All this is supported by targeted training to support your technical and consulting skills. The range of skills in the team will gear you up for senior consultancy and management roles in the future.

Our salaries are competitive and benchmarked against the Big Four consultancies. We are hiring at all levels, and we will map you to our Talent Framework during the interview process:

•Consultant – typically graduate up to five years’ experience
•Senior Consultant – three to ten years’ experience or relevant academic achievements
•Principal Consultant – eight years or more experience
•Project and Technical Directors – leaders in the field to guide our technical and business growth.
As a consultancy, our work requires travel. Our team members are expected to work on projects across the UK and internationally. Roles are available based from our central London or Manchester offices.

Main purpose

•You will enable our clients to think differently about their often, complex and safety critical infrastructure and the business processes that enable them to realise new levels of value from their assets and people
•Co-ordinating the development, review and implementation of asset management plans and the information and processes that create a whole life cost view of complex asset portfolios. The ability to understand asset cost, risk and performance trade-offs is an essential input to these plans, as is the ability to analyse cost options and prioritise investment based on business risk. Your knowledge, credibility and persuasive style will help our clients through the cultural change of asset management transformation programmes such as ISO55001 certification and other related standards
•To undertake appropriate analysis to understand client’s risk, performance and cost profile and present the findings and solutions in a compelling manner to clients up to board level and below
•To collaborate with colleagues across Amey to use their specialist skills and develop the company profile, enhancing the overall offering that Amey takes to market.

We are interested in candidates with skills and experience in some or all of the following areas:

•Have a persuasive leadership style and be a good communicator at all levels. The ability to liaise with any organisational function that contributes to the efficient delivery of asset management activities is essential. You will have the mental agility to effectively manage the people and cultural challenges of organisations of varying maturity

•A bachelor’s degree or higher level qualification usually in a discipline related to asset management, such as engineering, finance or project management. Membership of the IAM and attainment of the IAM Certificate or Diploma is desirable
•Have a thorough working knowledge of all lifecycle stages of asset management as stated in the requirements of ISO 55001 and 39 Subjects as described within the GFMAM Asset Management Landscape, preferable through practical application
•Experience of the interactions between financial and non-financial (technical) decision making and the application of financial management principles relevant to asset management at all stages of the asset lifecycle is essential.
•You will need an understanding of competency requirements for specific activities within all stages of an assets lifecycle such as maintenance and project delivery/handover and the ongoing verification of those competency requirements
•A good understanding of managing risk and how it is identified, analysed, evaluated and treated in accordance with industry good practice risk management frameworks
•Have a thorough understanding of asset data and information requirements for the asset within a portfolio. Understand asset performance requirements and the analysis techniques needed to verify that assets are meeting the required levels of service. Be effective in engaging with internal analysis and technical groups responsible for delivering analysis to stakeholders. Additionally have the ability to investigate non-conformances using root cause analysis techniques.
